The streets are dim and closing down for the night. Holly and Biv race through narrow alleys, their footsteps echoing between shuttered stalls. Biv gasps for breath, clutching his chest. “It’s dark... the shops’re locking up... and the night market’s not open yet...!”
Holly glances back over her shoulder, barely slowing. “How is she still running like—” He stops short, eyes wide. “...The hell...?”
Behind them, Puck barrels down a side street, desperate and disheveled. His eyes widen as he spots movement—someone stepping from the shadows ahead. “...That... that looks like—”
Back in the alley, Biv bends double, wheezing. “Asthma... *pant*... can’t run far...” Holly grips his arm, steadying him. “What’s wrong? We’ve barely even gone a block!” He shakes his head, determined. “Gonna hold... hold you up...”
“So what, just leave you here...? That’d be a dick thing to do,” Holly mutters, looping his arm over her shoulder. “C’mon. We’ll find somewhere to hide.”
In the next street over, Puck’s focus breaks as a shadow moves fast beside him—an arm snapping out of nowhere. “YANK!” He’s pulled violently off his feet and into the darkness. The last thing visible is the edge of Karu’s cloak as the alley swallows them both.
