FaerieTales Page 1. In this fantasy/sci-fi webcomic page, a group of passengers aboard a starship approach a space colony while a distressed toddler wails, breaking the silence.

Cover page! One day I might go back through and re-paint all the covers. That actually sounds soothing.

A backdrop of stars and floating asteroids fills the void of space. Several ships drift in low orbit.

Narration: Humans.

Two million years of existence. Thousands of years of recorded history. They clawed themselves out of the proverbial muck—and literally reached the heavens. From a single planet to three independent worlds, and nearly a hundred colonies.

Inside a passenger ship, travelers settle into rounded seats that offer a sense of semi-private space. A calm voice crackles through the speakers:

“Attention, passengers! Our arrival at Louverture Colony check-in has been delayed due to heavy traffic.”

In the background, a baby begins to cry.

Narration: Inarguably, an evolutionary success story… and yet…

The announcement continues. The baby’s wails grow louder. The mother looks horrified by the delay. A young man, long reddish-brown hair tucked beneath a trenchcoat, glances up.

“Our estimated wait time is approximately ninety minutes.”

The cries rise in volume, competing with the ship’s speaker. The man winces.

Narration: …This still happens on every. damn. flight.

“We apologize for any inconvenience, and will keep you posted as the situation progresses.”

The man grimaces. He realizes he may be trapped with the sound for the full ninety minutes.

“Thank you for your patience, and as always, thank you for flying Spirit Starlines!”
